Hopyards downstream of Warwick town is a prime stretch of the Warwickshire Avon featuring slow-moving deep water averaging 9-10 feet with even deeper regions here and there. The stretch is very private and without public access so the fishing is tranquil and quiet. Please be responsible and keep it that way!
The head of fish is dominated by roach but with all river species present including, bream, barbel, chub, carp and even a few tench. Waggler tactics and the pole score well in the moderate flow with regular loose feed keeping the fish interested and willing to bite.
The club record bream of over nine pounds was caught here but large shoals of bream averaging three to five pounds each might be found and heavy groundbait might just keep them around long enough to score a large match winning bag.

Should you be lucky then feeder tactics are best and regular casting to keep that swim topped up necessary or they'll be off upstream to your competitors swim!
Failing bream the roach are the match angler's mainstay with large weights of prime redfins possible. The stretch is the clubs premier match fishery with the majority of annual rounds arranged there because of its consistently good sport and even pegging without 'banker' swims predicted to produce more than any other and therefore it's a level playing field and a real test of angling skill on the day.
Stagings are always maintained in good condition, the banks well maintained and backroom in the pegs kept unimpeded so shipping back is not a problem. Access is easy, parking generous, and walks to the pegs short which suits the pole angler with his heavy load!
Access
From Stratford Road, turn left coming from Warwick just beyond the waterworks and park up in the ample space provided. It's a short walk from there to one of the Avon's best match venues, bar none.
