Warwickshire Avon at Myton Road

The Myton Road stretch of the Warwickshire Avon is a broad, regularly and slow flowing one offering the angler a wide range of fishing options from toughing it out after the large carp, trotting the waggler for a mixed bag, to pole fishing for roach.

Set in the parkland upstream of the castle it is a comfortable option for the angler wanting to park up and not have to move far with lots of gear. Therefore it's a great place to hone those pole skills with all the attendant paraphernalia but none having to be left behind in the boot!

It holds a large head of fish and because of it club matches are held there regularly with winning bags possible in excess of forty pounds should the shoals of large bream be found. The record match weight for the fishery is a tremendous 42lb of them but they run up to nine pounds in weight as individuals which is huge for river bream.

A 'bruiser' 17lber
Carp are present and run to 30lb plus, though double-figure specimens are of course the backbone of the sport. The river here is slow and predictable so normal carp tactics are perfect and no special river techniques or approaches are required under normal flow conditions. Bivvying up is not allowable under club rules but no one is going to mind if you stay well into the dark just so long as no disturbance is caused to anyone, your pitch is kept tidy, and is vacated without a trace of rubbish left behind.

Access
Access to all the available water is easy from Myton Road and parking is in the public car park of the park.
